The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Gyogon Grimah who has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) has poured out a heart of gratitude as he bids farewell.
An emergency meeting held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the State Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar, with the Command’s Management Team, Senior Officers, Inspectors, and Rank and File, marked the transition of the 46th Commissioner of Police for Cross River State, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah to his new role as the AIG for Zone 10, Sokoto State.
During the meeting, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah addressed over 281 personnel present, delivering an emotional and heartfelt message to his colleagues. He said his meritorious promotion and elevation to the new rank is a significant milestone in his career not only for him but for the entire Cross River State Police Command.

AIG Grimah shared deep gratitude for the support he had received throughout his tenure in Cross River State and acknowledged the unwavering commitment, resilience, and dedication of the officers and personnel of the Command.
His leadership, he noted, was a product of the collective efforts of the team, who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of citizens in the state.
Appreciation To Governor Otu And Personnel
AIG Grimah seized the opportunity to extend sincere appreciation to the Government of Cross River State, under the leadership of Senator Bassey Otu, for their continuous support to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Cross River State Command. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police force and the state government, contributing immensely to the successes achieved during his tenure.

He commended the personnel of the Cross River State Police Command for their exceptional commitment to duty and noted their invaluable contributions to maintaining peace and order within the state. This is a testament to the hard work and sacrifices made by the officers both senior and junior, who have dedicated themselves to the service of the state and nation, he added.
Emotional Farewell And Transition
The emotion-filled meeting had Grimah’s colleagues in the Command bid him farewell and expressed deep affection.
The new AIG acknowledged that leaving the Command was a bitter-sweet moment, as he had developed a strong bond with the officers during his time as Commissioner of Police. He, however, expressed confidence that the Command would continue to thrive and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service to the community.
Set to assume his new role in Sokoto State upon confirmation, AIG Grimah assured the personnel of the State Command that he would always remember his time in Cross River State with pride while praying for continuous success and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to the service of the people.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Command have lauded the exemplary leadership, dedication, and teamwork that have characterized the Cross River State Police Command under AIG Grimah’s stewardship.
“The heartfelt address by AIG Grimah and his appreciation for the personnel and the Cross River State Government underscored the strong bonds of cooperation and mutual respect that have been cultivated during his tenure. As he moves on to his new assignment in Sokoto, the personnel of the Cross River State Command are inspired to continue their work with the incoming CP devoid of complacency,” part of the statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, SP Irene Ugbo read.
