The Cross River State Police Command has nabbed a man Etik Obol Etim who has been on the run for weeks after he raped a 6 year old, sources familiar with the matter told CrossRiverWatch on Thursday.
Etim, 47, has been on the run since mid October but was arrested following a tip off after rights activist, James Ibor Esq shared details of the matter on social media.
He is currently cooling off at the State Criminal and Investigation Department pending his trial.
The incident occurred in Kekomkoloh, Ntan in Ekori, Yakurr Local Government Area and when contacted, Mr. Ibor heaped praise on the Police, and several organizations that coordinated with the public for the arrest of Mr. Etim.
According to him, it was a joint effort between the State Police Command led by CP Rashid Afegbua, Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), HEHRAi, Project Alert, EPWL Calabar branch, and Girls Power Initiative.
