By Kelvin Ololo The Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has moved to tackle in-house factions, differences and address position zoning issues ahead of the State Congress in September 2025. The resolutions were reached unanimously by critical stakeholders including state and national executives of the opposition party in a consultative meeting
"I want to very specially welcome our brother, Prince KJ to APC, and I want to tell him that from today, he will have peace of mind. When I defected, I had peace of mind," Akpanke said to chants of "the rock is solid" from some members of the crowd gathered at the Saint Coleman
"My defection is predicated on the good works of His Excellency, Prince Bassey Otu who has brought us the Season of Sweetness and has asked me to come and join in the sweetness," he declared during his announcement.

Yakubu who listed several reasons to justify his actions, disclosed that he tried to resign his position twice. However, he said he will work assiduously for the reelection of Governor Bassey Otu in 2027.
This places him among the top performing first-term legislators and the Cross River delegation to the 10th National Assembly when lawmaking is the matrix considered.
