Former Nigeria High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro says if given the opportunity, he would have loved to be a citizen of Cross River State.

He said the development of Cross River State, its civility and warm serenity is enough for some to always want to come to Calabar the State Capital.

The former Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party’s Governorship Candidate stated this in Calabar during the flag off of the party local government election campaign at the cultural Center.

He described Cross River State as a model which other state including Lagos should emulate especially the peaceful collaboration between the state and the local government in line with the regulatory frameworks rather than forceful marriage between State and local council adopted in many states.

The Chairman of the Industrial Trust Fund (ITF) said there is no reason why Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should fail election in a state where the party is doing well and called on the governor to give him honorary citizen of Cross River State.

“If you can give me a honorary citizenship of Cross River State your Excellency, I will be very delighted because the State is a model when it comes to development, serenity and cleanliness as well as civility that Calabar is known for.

“In addition with what I’m seeing here your excellency, I even want to appoint myself as honorary citizens of Cross River State.

“When a state is doing well for real and not on the pages of newspapers like Lagos, the local governments must do well.

“Thank God you have your governor hear, and you own your governor. In Lagos, it is one person that owns the whole Lagos State and put it inside his pocket.

“Do you want that in Cross River? A resounding No greeted the hall.

“Let me tell you about Lagos as it is today, don’t mind all the propaganda they are doing on the pages of the Newspapers, Lagos State is owing One Trillion Naira.” he said.

In his remark, Governor Liyel Imoke who described Obanikoro as a political heavyweight in Lagos said despite the weight of Asiwaju, Obanikoro’s son maintained his victory for PDP in the last Local Government Election in Lagos State even at court.

Imoke said with Obanikoro as the flag bearer of the party in 2015, PDP will win Lagos State.

What impact will a man like Obanikoro have for PDP in Cross River.Does he know that our debt profile is over 80billion naira.Does he know that democracy is being murdered in CRS with the exclusion of a major party like APC from the polls out of fear.Obanikoro advice ur pals to do the right thing by allowing all parties to participate and I assure when results are declared u may change ur mind about citizenship.
