The beautiful city of Calabar, the capital of Cross River State is already agog with activities as the famed Calabar Festival begins on Saturday.
The festival which heralds the popular Carnival Calabar will commence on Saturday November 30th, with the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
The Christmas tree is set to break record as the biggest in Africa.
Popular comedian, Akpororo will be on hand to thrill the revelers at the Millennium Park venue of the ceremony.
The tree lighting ceremony will be followed by the Paradise City Walk against HIV/AIDS the following day.
Same day, Samsong, Obiwon, Segun Obe, Kage, Nnanke and Darlene will perform at the World Aids Day Charity Concert billed for the Millennium Park by 7pm.
Before the concert, the state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke is expected to declare open the
Festival Village at the Calabar Municipality Council grounds.
The Festival Village is being moved from its traditional ground at the Cultural Center, owing to the on-going construction work on new shopping complex there.
