Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has expressed gratitude to his in-house team for bringing to fruition his dream of building a specialist hospital of international standard in Calabar.

The Governor who made the remark after the ground breaking ceremony for the 105-bed hospital in Calabar also expressed hope that those who have doubted the dream will now realize that his administration means business and does not make empty promises.

In an update on his facebook timeline yesterday, the Governor said: “Grateful to everyone who worked on the international hospital project and, happy it has all come together. I sincerely believe the project delivery date of March 2015 is tenable so I am ever so hopeful. With a proposed 150 beds we simply can’t go wrong in strengthening our primary and secondary health-care capabilities, as well as laying the foundation for medical tourism in the state.

“Luckily we have been able to attract competent concessionaires and projects facilitators and managers thanks to the thoroughness of our in-house team and the IFC; hopefully those in doubt now realize we mean business and don’t make empty promises.

“And this is a fairly well thought out project that should yield good social and financial dividends for the state and its people. And I am certain the figures I gave out for Nigerians patronizing India and Egypt for medical services will act as a wake-up call to improve our own services”.
