The zoning of the Cross River State governorship slot to the northern senatorial district in 2015 by the ruling PDP has been described as a huge joke by a frontline woman politician and former governorship aspirant in the state.

Mrs Felia Henshaw, a founding member of the PDP has said Senator Imoke has no right to zone the position to the north. “Whoever sat down and zoned that position to the north is only joking because Liyel Imoke is from the north and has taken the position of the north and cannot now cajole people into accepting the fact that the position has been zoned to the north”.

Mrs Henshaw said she contested the position of governor in 2007 and at the thick of her campaign; she was prevailed upon by the PDP hierarchy to step down for Senator Liyel Imoke who promised to make her an integral part of his government but has since locked his door against her.

“I have written letters to him, I have called him on phone, sent him text messages, begged him, abused him but he has never replied to any of that now he is talking about zoning the position of governor to the north in keeping to his campaign promise to the north. Which promise is he keeping when he cannot keep the simple promise he made to me who is an individual?”

She said she is contesting the position of governor of the state in 2015 and anybody who thinks she is not qualified for the position should meet her in the field “Over the years in this state when a northerner runs for governor, a southerner deputises and when a southerner is governor, a northerner deputises him so the situation cannot be different now because we have the Calabar –Ogoja Accord subsisting”

According to her, if the PDP and those who zoned the position to the north want equity as they claim, “they should approach the Cross River State House of Assembly with a legislation and ask that the Accord recognizing Ogoja and Calabar as the units that compose the state should be changed to Senatorial districts”.

She said she is contesting the election and would not step down for anybody in 2015 because she wants to deliver the people of the state from the tight corner they have been forced into in the past sixteen years. “I am coming out to run for governor and would not step down so that the world will know there is a woman in Cross River State who has worked so hard for the PDP and has not been given an opportunity to serve”.

She said politicians from the north are waiting for the governor to pick them to run but they have failed to understand that power is not donated.

Philia Henshaw is an empty container seeking attention that she will never get. Even if she contest as a ward councillor, she’ll fail honourably. You don’t beg to serve, rather you’re choosen by your constiuents to serve. She claims she was prevailed upon to step down for imoke in 2007. Does she have Τ̲̅ђε̲ perdigree/finances as well what it takes to govern herself, talk less of our dear State?

She should go and manage a small family unit and gather moral experiences first, before thinking of her political ambitions which is a tall dream that destiny may never grant her with!!! My candid opinion…

i’m surprised that a right thinking person will capitulate such ridiculousity.what concerns the state house of assembly with an antiquitated accord that was signed in jurrasic times under different political and geographic circumstance.the state assembly has no business repealing what it never passed.she is either looking to be noticed or settled maybe both.
