Hon Bassey Ewa, the House or Representatives member representing Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Gas Resources handed out his beautiful daughter, Rose Innocent Egede for marriage to her heartthrob, George Eze Ewa on Saturday, 15th February, 2014.
The wedding took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mega Flourishing Parish, Ikot Enim while the reception took place at the Venetian Palace, 5 Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar the Cross River State capital.
In attendance was the Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, Mr. Fidelis Ugbo, the Secretary of the National Planning Commission and several members of the House of Representatives including Hon. Bamanga Ture, Chairman House Committee on Petroleum, Hon. Owan Enoh, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Daniel Asuquo, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Interior, Hon. Frank Adah, representing Bekwara/Obudu/Obanlikwu, Hon. Chris Eta, representing Etung/Obubra Federal Constituency amongst others.
In his message, the officiating minister told the new couple that “In a successful marriage, it is necessary for each newly wedded couple to accept the total package in the other person including the attitudes, weaknesses, and faults.
Pastor Adediran added that “The wedding day is to solemnise what will be a life time experience of tolerance, accommodation and acceptance of what the other person really is without resorting to opting out of the relationship. “It is when people are not willing to accept the real person of the other partner that results to divorce but when people are ready to accept the total package then lasting peace and joy becomes part of the marriage”.
At the reception, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong the Chairman of Davandy Group, admonished the couple to accept the fact that from the moment they said “I do”, their lives take a new beginning which can only be controlled by the husband or wife. “If you are used to doing something without consulting somebody, that time has passed because this time you now have another part of you who must be informed of every decision you take.”
He called on the new couple to do away with friends and relations that would distract them from their marriage because they now have a second part that has to conform to their lives.
