The Chairman of the Senate committee on Banking and Finance,Senator Bassey Otu who represents Cross River Southern Senatorial District, has warned those eyeing the southern senatorial ticket on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to forget about it because’there is no vacancy in the office of Cross River South Senatorial District’

Senator Otu stated this Saturday in the presence of the State Governor Senator Liyel Imoke and state PDP Chairman and other party faithfuls who graced the 3rd stakeholders empowerment program organized by the Senator for his constituents and party faithfuls from the Southern Senatorial District.

Apparently referring to the state Deputy Governor, Efiok Cobham and the immediate past State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party,Hon Ekpo Okon both of whom have been rumored to have interest in replacing Senator Otu using their political clout and contacts to outwit the senator in the forth coming party Senatorial primary in October.

All of them are from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River Southern Senatorial District State.

“with every seriousness,I declare that there is no vacancy in the office of the Cross River South Senatorial District because of the enormous work and consideration that lies ahead.

“This is the time for Cross River South to ask for a principal position and my going back for a 2nd term just as all have been given this opportunity I should not be an exception.

“The truth I bear unto you as a people is that I will continue to provide bold, selfishness and credible leadership and I share in the abiding faith with all of you that the south will achieves its full potentials.

“Your wishes through me walked tall considering the catalogue of bills and resolutions that were passed courtesy of my direct facilitation and efficacious legislative engineering.

“Three years is too short to access a first term Senator, you cannot be made Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance and Banking if you are not tested and trusted.

In his remark,Governor Liyel Imoke who described Senator Otu as a grass root politician said the Senator is most trusted among the federal legislators in Abuja whom he has personal respect for.
