A confidential source at the University of Calabar of Calabar Teaching Hospital has disclosed to CrossRiverWatch that “Dr. Iwatt Godwin was brought into our unit, that is the intensive care Unit on Tuesday at about 3pm”.
The source affirmed that “he has under gone a surgery and a thoracotomy chest tube inserted, he was shot once at the left thoracic cavity.
“When he was rushed in, he was in pains the doctor on call was Prof. Etiuma Aniekan who is a specialist and senior doctor at the cardiothoracic unit”.
As at 8pm on Thursday, Dr. Iwatt Godwin was said to be responding to treatment but the intensive care unit was still under heavy police presence.
Again all efforts to contact the university management by our reporter was not successful.
It will be recalled that Dr. Iwat Godwin, a lecturer in the University of Calabar was, last Tuesday, shot by unknown gunmen in his office.
