The General Manager, Cross River Broadcasting Cooperation, CRBC has described the beginning of test transmission by Canaan FM, a subsidiary of the Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria, FRCN in Calabar as a welcomed development that is long overdue.
Mr. Henshaw made this remark yesterday after returning from a facility inspection tour to the new station with the state commissioner for information, Mr. Akin Ricketts.
According to him, “This has started in several parts of the country long ago. The FRCN has FM Stations in several states across the country. In Akwa Ibom, it is Atlantic FM. In Abeokuta, it is Paramount FM and so on. Now that the train has finally birthed in Cross River State, it is a very welcomed development that is long overdue.
“We want competition. We want alternatives to the work we are doing and the coming of Canaan FM will provide just that.”
In preparation for full fledged operations, Staff of the FRCN are presently on a four day retreat at the Tinapa Resort which opened on Monday.
