Tragedy hit the University of Calabar yesterday when the body of a middle aged woman identified to be one of the business women on campus was found lifeless in the students’ center of the university around noon.
The shocking incident dragged the entire security personnel of the institution to the scene.
The UNICAL security team headed by the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Boniface Adie described the incident as shocking.
Our reporter says the corpse was left to lie there for some hours, as both the security men and students were afraid to touch the dead body for fear of Ebola.
It was only about 6pm, that the relatives of the deceased, whom sources say is from Akwa Ibom State arrived the ‘Republic of Malabor’ to pick the corpse.
Although the main cause of the woman’s death is still unknown, some of the students are already saying it was the dreaded Ebola Virus.
A very close friend to the late woman who spoke in anonymity told CrossRiverWatch that the woman has been sick for a long time, but never expected her to die in such a manner.
A Malabite who also spoke identified himself as Emmanuel Akan from the faculty of science and claimed to have seen the woman the morning before her corpse was found.
The incident has thrown the whole of Malabor into fear with the rumor of her dying of Ebola.
