The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke has consoled the family of late Pa Thomas Odey Opiepe who died after a brief illness at age 102years.
Senator Imoke speaking during the final laying to rest of the body of the deceased described him as a man who lived a life worthy of emulation by all and sundry.
The governor represented by his deputy, Mr. Efiok Cobham enjoined the family members of the late Pa Odey who was buried in his country home at Olachor, Okpoma Yala Local Government Area of the state, not to see his demise as painful and untimely because he was a man that stood the test of time by living up to the age not easily attained, 102.
The burial ceremony was conducted by Very Reverend Father George Chokpa Vicar General, VG of the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja.
He prayed for the family asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irrepairable loss, reminding all who were present that death is path for all, thus we must be prepared for it.
On behalf of the Pa Thomas Odey Opiepe family, Mr. John Odey thanked all the friends, family members and well wishers who honored the burial invitation which he says will be a memento to his household.
Mr. Odey revealed that the burial was solely planned and sponsored financially and otherwise by the grand children of his late father and he gave them kudos.
