Cross River APC Rep. Candidate, Odey Oyama, Promises To Revive Okwangwo National Park

The All Progressive Congress, APC flag bearer for the Ikom/Boki Federal constituency, Cross River State, Dr. Odey Oyama has promised to revive the National Park Okwangwo division, Butatong Boki Local Government Area, if elected.

He made the promise while he visited the park as part of his campaign activities recently. Dr. Odey who is an environmentalist described the state of the park as pitiable and dilapidated and in need of urgent attention. He said, “The park is dying, its glory days died long ago” as a panacea he said: “When elected if after thorough assessment I discover we won’t be able to fix it we can easily convert the infrastructure as houses and other business points for the community”.

He disclosed that Willmar has bought some of the land around the park maintaining that the land belongs to the community and no one else, “If the park must work, state and federal government must work, which is why I solicit for your votes to represent you at the Green Chambers”, he added.

In a brief response, the Park Director who simply identified himself as Adhiyi O. A said, “I wish you all the best”.

Earlier, the candidate paid a courtesy call to the Paramount Ruler of Boki, His Royal Majesty, HRM Otu Fredaline Enka Akando, where he pledged not to let the interest of the community down. He said from his records of activism in the state, it is clear that he will deliver.

The Boki monarch while speaking expressed high hopes that if Odey Oyama works hard he has chances of winning, advising him to work hard and put his trust in God almighty.
