The Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke today, Saturday commissioned a new library complex in the Cross River State College of Education, Awi/Akamkpa.
The state governor who was escorted by a large entourage including his deputy, Barrister Efiok Cohbam, the state People’s Democratic Party, PDP governorship flag bearer and his deputy, Senator Ben Ayade and Professor Ivara Esu, the State Commissioner of Education, Professor Offiong Offiong among others said the library complex is one among several projects sited in the college.
While commending the management of the college under the administration of Dr. James Ejue Bassey, Senator Imoke revealed that the rationale behind the project is the much needed man power in the state and to set a standard.
The standard being set according to Imoke is what has improved the school and has made the college one of the best in Nigeria. He promised that, “Very soon this institution will be a degree awarding institution; having received full accreditation within months from now”.
While inspecting the project funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TET-FUND 2011/2012, Imoke advised the provost that “E-library should be the standard”.
On his part, the PDP governorship flag bearer, Senator Ben Ayade while speaking pledged to ensure that the institution will become a degree awarding institution when elected into office.
