The Paramount Ruler of Boki His Royal Majesty, HRM Otu Fredaline Enka Akando has given royal blessings to Honorable Ernest Eki, member Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA representing the Boki state constituency one comprising of five political wards namely Alankwu, Buentsebe, Bibo-Bumaji, Abu and Boje, the capital of Boki LGA, to seek re election.
Hon. Eki is currently the House Chairman, Committee on Rural Development and Public Utilities and won the election on the PDP platform.
Honorable Eki decamped from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC after PDP according to him manipulated the primaries result to oust him. While addressing Eki’s campaign train which arrived the palace of the monarch recently, the Paramount Ruler said that “I am not happy about what happened to you, I know those behind it, when you are not there we will suffer.
“You won the election but everything was turned up-side-down, APC will deliver you because you have never failed us legislative and otherwise while in the House”. His Royal Majesty, Otu Fredaline in a loud voice told his community people present at his palace to vote Ernest Eki because he alone can represent their interest as a community.
Earlier, Honorable Eki who was escorted by large number of his supporters pleaded with the paramount ruler not to allow any form of injustice flourish in the forth coming general election that can disrupt the peace and tranquility of the constituency.
While addressing the media, he maintained that “After the campaign I want to achieve victory on the poll 28th February 2015 and beyond that date I want to achieve more effective representation in the House and take my people to the next level”. According to him, “The main reason for my defection is that the process of selecting the party’s flag bearers was not done in the normal way, it was not transparent. They started the process normal but ended up not allowing the result of the entire process be decided by the delegates.
“My people said I should go back for a second term because I have represented them well but the first family of the state did not accept my people’s decision to resend me. When the caucus was asked to nominate a candidate to fast track the process, to avoid acrimony my people sat and agreed unanimously that I am their candidate because it was zoned to my ward for 8 years and I did well in the first four years.
“When the report was taken to Boki caucus it was adopted since it was the mind of my constituents, as we went to present the report to the state governor he rejected it and decided to select another person, at first I looked at it as a family issue and decided to take the outcome in good fate provided there will be some form of reconciliation between me and the party but I waited for a while and no reconciliation move was fort coming, then I thought within me that I have been used and dumped, that prompted me to find my bearings in another party. I want the will of the people to prevail, if I win fine, if another person wins fine but let the people decide in the poll”.
