Recording the first in international convention center in the region, the Calabar International Conference Center, CICC is not only blazing the trail for business tourism in Nigeria, but also for the West African region as a whole.
Ahead of the opening in the second quarter of 2015, the Calabar ICC team is on line to earn its fair market share of African national and international conferences at arguably the continent’s biggest business tourism exhibition, Meetings Africa 2015.
Indeed, the global meetings industry has begun to recognize Africa as an idyllic destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).
It is this recognition that birthed Meetings Africa, an event that showcases to the world, the best that Africa has to offer in the Business Tourism sector.
It is also a forum where African associations and industry professionals can partner to help transform the continent.
Interestingly, not only will Calabar ICC, be exhibiting at Meetings Africa, the CEO, Paul D’Arcy will be placing Calabar on the world stage at The International Association of Congress Centers (AIPC’s) Africa summit round table.
The round table session including Paul D’Arcy (CEO Calabar ICC) and Rick Taylor (The Business Tourism Company) will be discussing, “An Evolving African Product: What is Changing, What are the Implications.”
The main objective of this session is to provide an overview of how the African product evolves and compares with emerging products in different parts of the world.
In addition, Paul and Ben Asoro Calabar ICC’s Director of Marketing & Sales, will be conducting a press briefing at the buyers’ lounge, titled “Meetings Africa 2015; The implications to Africa’s meetings industry, of Nigeria’s entry with Calabar ICC at the ongoing Meetings Africa.
To sum up the above deliverables calculated to position Calabar ICC in the global scene, the CICC team has scheduled a number of appointments, with hosted buyers from Africa, Europe and China. These hosted buyers are meeting planners who organize conferences, which Africa is eligible to bid for and host and the team’s role will be to present Calabar’s value proposition and put Calabar firmly on the business tourism map locally, in an African context and importantly in the world market.
