Cross River-Born CP Bassey Ewah Assumes As Plateau State 46th Police Commissioner

Cross River-born Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Samuel Ewah has formally resumed duty as the 46th Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, following his appointment to replace CP Emmanuel Adeshina.

A native of Etung Local Government Area, CP Ewah was born on July 28, 1968. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar and joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

His over three decades of service span several state commands, including Lagos, Rivers, Anambra, Enugu and Taraba, as well as postings at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. His experience covers operational, administrative and instructional responsibilities within the Force.

CP Ewah spent approximately 15 years in the Mobile Police Force, where he rose to the position of Squadron Commander. He later served as Area Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations). His instructional roles include service at the Police Staff College, Jos, and as Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.

He was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police in 2020 and attained the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2024. CP Ewah is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

As Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, he is expected to oversee policing operations and coordinate security efforts in collaboration with relevant agencies across the state.
