The Cross River State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidates for the forthcoming general election have ignored the Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC interactive session held recently at 520 Kolanut Conference Center, Calabar.
The state chapter chairman of NLC, Comrade John Ushie informed that all political parties including the ruling PDP were invited for the session and expressed disappointment at the parties that ignored their invitation, most especially the PDP.
He maintained that the workers are the society builders, they create wealth which ordinarily makes them qualified to be interested in the politics of who manages the wealth created by them.
He affirmed that he believe this is not the time that people will prefer rigging election as it will not work because of the level of consciousness the masses have developed for the coming election.
Among those present at the parley were the All Progressive Congress, APC Gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Odey Ochicha and his deputy, the Labour Party’s Southern Senatorial district candidate, Senator Bassey Otu represented by Engr. Bassey Effiong, the party’s House of Representative candidate for Calabar Municipality and Odukpani Federal Constituency Bobby Ekpenyong, among others.
