Information reaching CrossRiverWatch indicates that in spite of the visit of Governor Liyel Imoke’s representative to the warring community of Ekori to preach peace, love and unity, some die-hard political thugs of one of the two groups are planning and regrouping to carry out what our source described as revenge attack on the already weary community of Ekori.
Impeccable sources informed us that after the Police brought the situation to calm on Wednesday afternoon, the die-hard supporters of one of the political heavy weight went out of the community to plot possible ways of carrying out a reprisal attack in what our source said they see as fighting to save the group’s image that has been bartered by the death of three of its members including the man described as the custodian of the group’s armory.
The informant went further to say that there was every need for the state government to increase the number of policemen presently stationed in the troubled community.
Meanwhile competent sources equally told CrossRiverWatch that the Cross River State Commissioner of Police has scheduled a crucial meeting with all the parties involved in the recent political conflict in Ekori land which has claimed three lives and caused untold hardship to the people of the area.
As a result of the conflict which erupted after fighting between the supporters of the People’s Democratic Party’ House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Bassey Ewa and the Labor Party flag bearer for the same post, Chief Alex Egbunna, the once bubbling town of Ekori is now a shadow of itself.
