The seventeenth Governor of Cross River State since its creation as South – Eastern State to it’s rechristening as Cross River State, Professor Senator Ben Ayade has been inaugurated in Calabar.

Professor Senator Ayade formally took his oath of office /allegiance from 1.20pm and concluded by 1.24pm.

Professor Senator Ben Ayade was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of Cross River, Justice Okoi Ikpi Itam at the Calabar International Convention Center, CICC alongside his Deputy, Professor Ivara Esu.

The symbolic handing over of the state flag signifying the transfer of mantle of leadership was carried out by the out gone Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke.

From its creation to date, Cross River State has been administered by 10 Military Governors/Administrators and five civilian Governors, while the newly sworn-in Governor, Ayade is the sixth civilian Governor of the State.
