In his effort to block leakages and ensuring that ‎ghost workers are fished out, Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has directed all the banks that handled the state salaries account to furnish his office with the details of unclaimed salaries through the office of the Accountant General of the State.

The governor while having an enlarged meeting with representatives of all the commercial banks and some micro finance banks in government house Calabar, Wednesday said he is aware that there were some unclaimed salaries of workers with some banks.

He assured the banks that all of them will play critical roles in his government but with a charge that they must be ready to key into his vision of providing more for Cross Riverians in the shortest possible time.

Ayade informed the banks that the era of monopolizing the state salaries account is over but that any of the banks ready to key in must fasten it’s belt properly because “salaries of workers must be paid on or before 25th of every month.”

“All banks will have a role to play in this government but Cross Riverians must adequately be employed. Sor for any bank that will participate in the salary regime, you must be ready.

“Account General, please let it be a clear final note from here that salaries come first and every other thing follows.

“That way, we have the right ‎to insist that workers should come to work early and be productive because there is dignity in labor.

“Banks should come up with ideas to block the monumental leakages and we need to create new revenue heads‎.

“All of you must key into 2015 Carnival as our tourism flagship because this year’s edition will be great and mighty, I advise that you choose any project and send us an input.

‎”We want to start a huge banana farm, we have better species, land, climate and intend to take it as commercial export project and a value chain business that will create jobs and I like to see banks that will be very strong in this agricultural investment.” he said.
