Cross River state governor Benedict Ayade today fulfilled his promise earlier made to state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ during the media parley with the delivery of an 18 seater Toyota Hiace bus to the union.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Christian Ita accompanied by his Deputy, Linus Obogo presented the bus on behalf of his principal at the premises of the governor’s office promising more to better the working conditions of the gentlemen of the fourth estate of the realm in the state.
Receiving the bus, the chairman Cross River council of the NUJ, Pastor Ndoma Akpet accompanied by the Secretary Nsa Gill and Chairman Correspondents Chapel, Judex Okoro appreciated the gesture as they have had mobility challenges since the old one was razed and promised judicious utilization of the vehicle.
“We are happy that this bus has come at the opportuned time at the dawn of this administration. His Excellency gave his word and has kept it. We promise that we are going to use this bus for the purpose it is meant for, to help us cover assignments. We are going to protect it and we are going to, because of this bus, we will go to the hinterland of the state to do more coverage and reporting of the state”.
