Cross Riverian Emerges Chief Of Naval Staff

Yakurr born Rear Admiral I.E Ibas has been appointed the new Chief of Naval Staff by the President Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, General Muhammadu Buhari, Rtd.

The appointment was made known in a statement released this afternoon to the press after the President relieved all service chiefs of their positions.

Until his appointment Admiral Ibas was Chief Executive Officer of Navy Holdings Limited. He enlisted in the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 26th regular course in 1979 and was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in 1983.

His previous appointment include: Naval Provost Marshal, Chief Staff Officer, Naval Training Command, Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command and Chief of Logistics Naval Headquarters.

Admiral Ibok is from Ekori in Yakurr Local Government of Cross River State.
