As earlier reported by CrossRiverWatch, local government staff across the state are now receiving owed arrears with mixed reactions trailing the exercise in Obudu local government area.

Findings by CrossRiverWatch revealed that governor Ayade’s position on screening before payment was actually effected with staff criticizing the process.

Some staff who spoke on condition of anonymity complained bitterly about the mode of payment citing security and slow pace of payment as their reasons.

“The security situation is somehow, presently in Obudu boys might just snatch our bags although some of us collect and branch into the banks to deposit immediately” said one.

“It is time consuming, lot of man hours lost” added another.

Others however saw it as a welcomed development. “It is a welcomed development, you get your money complete and no issues” said one.

“The governor is from here and says it is a process for weeding out ghost workers so this screening is welcomed.” his colleague concurred.

The criteria CrossRiverWatch gathered is “screen and get paid”.
