The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo has indicated willingness to partner the Bahumono Women Association (BAWA) in Abi LGA of the state, in a bid to help realise its vision.
Hon Gaul Lebo who gave the indication recently when a delegation of the Bahumono Women Association, an apolitical socio cultural group visited his office, acknowledged the huge role played by women in the society.
He expressed readiness to identify with the various programs and activities of the Association while pledging to assist through support and empowerment initiatives.
The Speaker, who emphasized on the need to educate the girl child, said the society would be incomplete and unsustainable without women, hence the resolve to support the Bahumono Women Association (BAWA).
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and President of the Bahumono Women Association, Mrs Vivian Osim said the visit became necessary to intimate the Speaker of the existence of BAWA and its activities which include encouraging girl child education as well as encourage entrepreneurial development of women to enable them support their husbands and the family.
Mrs. Osim who stated that the Association was comprised of credible women with like minds capable of rendering creditable services in any given capacity, urged the Speaker to accommodate women in the scheme of things.
The BAWA pledged its unalloyed support to the Speaker while presenting a souvenir in appreciation of Mr Speaker’s leadership strides in the House of Assembly.
