A statement by Christian Ita, the Chief Press Secretary to Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has announced that the governor has approved the appointment of 147 new persons into different positions of responsibility.

In what one of the appointees described as “appointment bazaar”, 147 names were listed in the statement including 23 Special Advisers, 17 Special Assistants, 3 Personal Assistants, a Deputy Chief of Staff and a Deputy Chief of Protocol.

82 persons were appointed as Chairmen, Executive Secretaries, Commissioners, Director Generals, Directors and Members of different Boards, Departments, Agencies, Commissions and Parastatals of government.

17 persons were also appointed as Chairmen, Secretaries and Members of the four Urban Development Areas, (Obudu, Ugep, Ikom, Ogoja), in the state while Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, a former National Spokesperson of the PDP and a former Member of the House of Representatives was named Cross River State Envoy to African Development Bank.

Dr. Emil Inyang was also named Chairman/Pro-Chancellor Governing Council, of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH and Dr. Stephen Adah became Chairman, Governing Council, College of Education, Akamkpa.

Former Presidential Adviser, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa was also appointed as the Chairman of the Cross River Ports Authority and Cross River born Nollywood diva, Kate Henshaw was appointed as his Special Adviser, Liaison, Lagos.

Others who made the list include ace broadcaster and former Head of News, Channels TV, Mrs. Theresa Essien who is returning as the new General Manager, GM of the Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation, CRBC while K.J. Agba, younger brother of erstwhile governorship contender, Prince Jedy Agba was also appointed Chairman of New City Development Board.
