Speaker of Cross River State House Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo is now a Strategist on Climate Change Adaptation following a successful course in London.
The intensive training which now makes the Speaker a specialized policymaker on climate change adaptation, lasted four days and was organized by the International Center for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS), London.
Reacting after receiving his certificate of attendance, the Speaker expressed satisfaction for the additional knowledge and expertize which he said would be brought to bear in the governance of the state, adding that climate change had become a global concern.
He observed that the world was seriously re-positioning to contain climate change and its attendant effects on the environment which according to him negatively affected the economy as well.
Hon Gaul stressed that, states as well as the country cannot be left behind in pursuit of capacity towards addressing the issues of climate change.
It should be recalled that Cross River State has become the only State in the country that has created a dedicated Ministry of Climate Change with a Commissioner.
