The Calabar University Medical Students Association (CUMSA) has conducted election to fill the position of President of the association after elections into other positions had been earlier conducted.
At the end of voting Comrade Emmanuel Ogar emerged President in a land slide victory having garnered a total of 205 votes to defeat his opponents, Comrade Elijah Akpe who had 11 votes and Comrade Henry Okon who scored 10 votes.
The election of other officers into other positions was held on the 29th of April 2016 with that of the position of the President shifted by the University management when one of the aspirants, Comrade Emmanuel Ogar was not cleared by the electoral committee on grounds of a petition of financial misappropriation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu ordered the immediate investigation of the allegation and he was later cleared of all the allegations levelled against him.
Other officers elected on the earlier date are as follows Joy Aleka, Vice President, Sunday Eguna General Secretary, Abraham Ntui Assistant Secretary, Grace Aboh Financial Secretary, Caleb Ani Director of Welfare Usha Orhungul, Sports Director, Ewa Anthony Obi Director of Socials and Faithful Daniel to serve as Director of Information.
