A woman had to be rescued from inside a black Pajero jeep Wednesday after she veered off the road and fell into an open drainage along MCC by Boston Hotel in Calabar the Cross Rivers State capital.

The woman according to information available to CrossRiverWatch by eyewitnesses was heading towards Mobil by MCC when she veered off the road having been scared by the barrage of cars that were driving behind her.

One of the eyewitnesses who wouldn’t want to be named said that the unidentified woman would have sustained serious injuries if not for the timely intervention of passers-by who came to her rescue immediately the accident happened.

He regretted that “In the 21st century, in a State that carries itself as a tourism destination, open drainages could still be seen in the capital”, wondering what would have happened if it was raining when the accident occurred.

At the time of filing this report, the vehicle was still in the drainage with no sign of the presence of relevant government authorities to clear the accident site.
