The correspondents in Government House Calabar have elected new leaders to act as representatives between the crew and the management.
AIT’s Rasheed Olanrewaju emerged leader after polling 9 votes to beat CHRONICLE’s Ashie Osor who polled 3 votes.
Channels TV Imani Odey emerged as Rasheed’s deputy after she polled 8 votes as confirmation as she stood unopposed.
Also, CRBC’s Sunny Inah was appointed Treasurer following a unanimous decision by all correspondents after his nomination by the newly elected leader.
“We are now one big family” said Rasheed in his acceptance speech in which he sued for cooperation from all.
“It is much more difficult to lead smaller groups than a big one but there is no challenge I think this my big head cannot handle” Rasheed said.
He promised to ensure the Press Corps enjoys maximally, the benefits accruing to each member as well as lined out several initiatives that aims at improving the lot of the correspondents.
“Our new leader made a statement that he will carry everybody along so for that reason, I won’t go to court” joked Ashie Osor who pledged his support to the new leadership.
