The wife of retired AIG Joseph Mbu who was kidnapped in front of her home on Tuesday has been released sources in the Cross River State Police Command say.
The Police on Wednesday had practically dodged a question on the kidnap of Mbu’s wife in a press briefing.
DCP Tunde Gbolarumi who is the second in command held brief for CP Jimoh Ozi-Obeh whom CrossRiverWatch gathered is currently in Abuja, had said he can’t comment directly on the issue.
A woman, Homer Awutaya was kidnapped and released on Tuesday the Police said.
A relative of the kidnapped said four armed men had abducted her and was later reunited with her family after the kidnappers abandoned her in her vehicle when it became clear to them that they cannot escape with their prey the Police said.
However, sources in the Police Command say that Mbu’s wife has since been released.
As at press time CrossRiverWatch could not confirm whether the released Homer Awutaya is related with Mbu.
