It’s still ongoing and it is a roll call of political associates and friends of the former governor of Cross River state, Senator Liyel Imoke who have turned out enmass to commiserate with the former governor at the funeral of his mother-in-law in Illah, Delta State.

Noble Lady Grace Ifemdigbomma Ezi-Ashi (KSJ) 1931-2016, is the mother of Obioma Imoke, wife of the former governor of Cross River State.

She was the first of four children born to the family of Chief Nwosu Eze-Odumegwu and Madam Angelina Nnuona on June 2nd 1931 in Nnewi.

She attended the Holy Child College in Lagos and later proceeded to Hammersmith Hospital in London where she studied to become a State Registered Nurse (SRN) and the Guys Hospital, London where she became a State Certified Midwife (SCM).

She worked briefly as a nurse at the University College Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital both in Surrey, England.

In his condolence message to his predecessor, the governor of Cross River state, Senator Ben Ayade said, “The loss of our dear mother is a great loss to the family, medical practitioners, today South East and South South communities at large. While we mourn with your entire family, be consoled that mama made her mark on mankind while on earth.

“Though death is inevitable, it is not a desirable experience especially when it involves someone close to us. I implore you not to despair in the face of this sad event, as mama has only moved to a better place of eternal rest.

“On behalf of my family, the government and entire people of Cross River state, please accept my most sincere condolences on the home call of your mother inlaw. Please do extend our condolences to your admirable wife, Her Excellency, Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke.”
