Senator Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River State has directed all his political appointees to immediately deploy and mobilize all those who have attained the voting age to register in the ongoing Voters Registration Exercise being carried out in the 18 local government areas of the State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The directive was issued via a press release dated 22nd June, 2017 signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Rosemary Archibong and made available to CrossRiverWatch.
The order reads in part:”In this regard, all appointees are directed to as a matter of urgency return to their respective Local Government Areas to lead efforts at ensuring maximum voters turn out in the registration/review exercise being currently conducted by INEC”.
The statement further stated that those who fail to comply will be sanctioned, “This assignment will be closely monitored and sanctions applied where appointees fail to mobilize to their constituencies”.
Similarly, appointees were advised to ensure that all Cross Riverians of 18 years and above come out and register to vote and also present any issue that needs to be sorted out for those who registered earlier.
The exercise which started Friday 23rd June 2017 will end on Wednesday 28th of June 2017.
