The Nairabet Football Club of Obudu urban on Saturday pipped the Obudu Football Academy to win the fourth edition of the Comrade Odey Adamade Unity Cup.
This makes it two in a row for the club which now boasts of the record as the highest winners of the competition.
After playing out a draw in regulation and extra time, Nairabet FC beat the Football Academy 4-1 in a penalty shootout to clinch goal.
Meanwhile, the Central Stars of Utugwang emerged third place winners after winning Begiaka FC.
Also, individual honors went to those who outperformed others in different categories with Marvis ‘Amis’ Ugbong emerging as Most Valuable Player.
His brother Theophilus Ugbong went home with the Golden boot while Theophilus ‘Aguero’ Undeshi was awarded best goalkeeper.
Elias ‘Batta’ Undie was awarded best central referee while Bishiri FC was given the fair play award as best behaved team after registering the least number of cautions by a central referee.
The annual competition which expanded to 24 teams this year from 20 aims to channel the energies of youths towards positive ventures especially during festive periods said the organizer, Mr. Odey Adamade in a yet to be published interview by CrossRiverWatch.
