BREAKING: Police Rescue Woman 5 Days After Kidnap, Recover Vehicle In Cross River

The Police in Cross River State have rescued one Mrs. Comfort Bassey, 5 days after she was kidnapped on Monday in Calabar.

Sources in the Police command say operatives of the newly formed Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism squad of the Police Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa tracked the suspected kidnappers to Akpap – Okoyong village of Odukpani local government area.

Akpap-Okoyong is less than 60 kilometers west of Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

And, the squad upon arrival swooped into the hideout of the gang suspected to be a kidnapping, robbery and assassination syndicate.

The gang is said to have opened fire upon sighting the Police which the squad responded and a member of the gang was hit by a bullet.

He was later identified as Isaac Sabastine and hails from Obot Akara local government area of Akwa Ibom State and his corpse deposited at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Also, one Elele David of Obanliku local government area of northern Cross River was arrested.

The kingpin, one Ayi Etok is said to have narrowly escaped with gun shot wounds.

CrossRiverWatch also learnt a white Toyota Highlander jeep with registration number CROSS RIVER ANA 420 CK belonging to the victim was also recovered.

Meanwhile, one locally made pistol, a live cartridge, an axe, charms, one Army camouflage, a mask and a banner bearing the Black axe confraternity logo were also recovered.
