By CrossRiverWatch Admin

The Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Electronic Media, Beatrice Akpala, has denied sending her brother, Paschal Akpala to accost and beat up film producer and actor, Lilian Igbang.

Akpala told CrossRiverWatch in a message that she had no hand in the incident but did not deny nor confirm whether her brother actually attacked Ms. Igbang.

Igbang, a Nollywood actor, film producer had raised alarm that Akpala was after her and when contacted by CrossRiverWatch she said that Beatrice’s brother, Paschal had accosted her while about entering a motorcycle in Ogoja and assaulted her for being a critic of Akpala’s family.

Lilian told CrossRiverWatch that Pascal had approached her and asked why she is always insulting his family “and when I inquired whom her family members were, he said Maureen Akpala and Beatrice Akpala.

“He said Beatrice especially has been complaining about me that I insulted her once during a meeting on WhatsApp. I now asked him if he had asked what she said to me that warranted whatever I did? He did not answer and kept abusing me,” Igbang said.

She said she was about climbing a motor bike when Paschal stopped her and asked: “Do you know that Beatrice works with the Governor? So anything she asks anyone to do, the person must obey. He said that in their house when they give order, they don’t want any form of complain.

“He then stood up and demonstrated that if Beatrice had said left right, left right all I have to do is to stand up and keep marching. I became furious and asked who the hell is this Beatrice? Does she take care of me and my family?

“Then Paschal now went and blocked the bike I had entered and then called Beatrice on phone and then told her that the girl; Lilian Igbang who had criticized her is here and then asked her what he should do to me. He said anything you want me to do to her, I will do it to her right now.

“He ended the call and started beating me. He almost stripped me naked if not for people around,” she said.

Igbang said she is from Wanikade but lived all her life in the Akpala’s community; Wanihem with all her movie projects carried out in Wanihem in north Ukelle of Yala local government area of northern Cross River State.

Both communities recently went to war which left some dead, thousands homeless and several dozens critically injured.

When asked if she contacted Beatrice, Igbang said that she contacted her and: “I congratulated Beatrice for the message she sent Paschal to me, that he delivered very well.

Her response was that she has no hand in it and that I should not drag her into my petty issues with Paschal and that the curse I laid on her family, she sent it back to me.”
