After an emotional appeal from Mr. Chris Inyang on Facebook seeking assistance for Emmanuel 11 year old Okon Ironbar, who was branded a witch by his step father and thrown out of the house, members of Prevent Abuse of Children Today (PACT) made their way to 28b Yellow Duke, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State to rescue Emmanuel.

Speaking to CrossRiverWatch TV at the shanty where Emmanuel slept for weeks, Mr. Chris Inyang said he was moved to help Emmanuel because the child is innocent.

On his part, Emmanuel revealed that he has never been to school and that his step father threw him out after been branded a witch at the Sanctified Mount Zion Church where his step father is a Deacon.

When the rescue team met Emmanuel’s stepfather, Deacon Ubong Umoren at the Sanctified Mount Zion Church, he angrily asked the team to go and speak with his wife, as he has no knowledge of what is being said.

The mother of the child confirmed to CrossRiverWatch TV that the child was thrown out by her husband.

On his part, the Chairperson of Child Protection Network, Cross River State, Barrister James Ibor who led the PACT team assured that Emmanuel will be rehabilitated and those who accused him of being a witch will be made to face the law.
