The National Judicial Council last week released the names of three Cross Riverians nominated by the Governor, Senator Ben Ayade as Judges of the state’s high court.
Amongst them is Mr. Ayade’s long time ally, Mr. Emmanuel Ubua.
This was contained in a statement issued by the NJC’s Director, Information, Mr. Soji Oye, which said the council made the recommendations at its 85th meeting.
The other two successful candidates are Imelda Etope Bassey and Obo Awusa Obo.
Mr. Ubua has practiced law for over two decades in Obudu local government area and recently relocated to Abuja, the federal capital territory.
Sources in the state’s judiciary say the nominations were based on an unwritten agreement of having at least one judge from each of the three senatorial district.
The first trio recommended and sworn in by Mr. Ayade were his cousin, Justice Emmanuel Ayade, Justice Ibitham Ukpai and Justice Eno Ikpri in April 2016.
That also followed the said unwritten accord, CrossRiverWatch gathered.
