The daughter of Ntufam John Okon, the immediate past chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Joan Okon are requesting invitees to their wedding to shower them with any of 46 items listed on the invitation card as wedding gifts including a new house and land.
Miss Joan Okon who founded the media outfit, Tholakele Productions is billed to wed Mr. Tombari Bien who hails from Gokana local government area of Rivers State on March 31, 2018 in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
And, a wedding invitation card sighted by CrossRiverWatch suggests a new trend in wedding gifts with a three page attachment tagged; “Gift Registry,” urging invited guests to: “Transform our lives through you and our marriage will stand on the shoulder of giants which we believe you are.”
The ‘Gift Registry’ which paraphrased Matthew Chapter Seven verse Seven also added that: “As you go through our gift registry, we believe that God will inspire you to do something great in our lives, even greater than our dreams and expectations, for every gift you present and sow you shall receive more bountifully.”
The 46 numbered ‘Gift Registry’ included: “Gift of a new house, gift of a new commercial transport bus, gift of a land, gift of a plant generator, gift of a brand new car, gift of a financial support fund, gift of an industrial washing machine, gift of a standing double door freezer, gift of a family size television.
“Gift of living room sofa set, gift of family home theatre set, gift of a photocopying machine, gift of a computer set, gift of a laptop, gift of a standing air conditioner, gift of a dinning set, gift of a gas and oven cooker, gift of a dish washer, gift of a weaving machine.
“Gift of a catering buffet set, gift of a family size washing and drying machine, gift of a family size bed an mattress, gift of an exclusive smart phone, gift of a dish washer, gift of a gym and fitness set, gift of a grand piano, gift of an electric drum, gift of a commercial sound speaker set, gift of a keyboard.
“Gift of a home heater, gift of a deep freezer, gift of a dispenser, gift of a commercial hair dryer, gift of a family size generator, gift of a sewing machine, gift of a set of settees, gift of an exclusive cooking pot, gift of an exclusive family size cooler set, gift of a cappuccino machine.
“Gift of an exclusive carton of plates, gift of microwave, gift of a set of boxes, gift of a tea cup set, gift of a toasting machine.”
The ‘Gift Registry’ which was created by “family and friends committee,” directed those willing to respond to their request to attach name and contact details to their gift parcel or envelop to be contacted by the couple.
For financial donations, a savings United Bank for Africa (UBA) account number, 2041637447 with account name, “Bien Precious T.” was provided in the registry.
