The Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar (UNICAL) Professor Zana Akpagu has reiterated that the university under his watch has a zero level tolerance for cultism and other anti-education activities.
Prof. Akpagu stated this during the 40th matriculation ceremony of the institution which held on Wednesday at the Abraham Odia stadium UNICAL.
In his address, Prof. Zana enjoined the 9, 200 matriculants to shun cultism, immoral conduct and other forms of illegalities that will hinder their educational pursuit, adding that they should endeavor to report any irregularities noticed to the appropriate authorities.
The VC beckoned on parents and guardians to support their children and wards with the necessary backing they legitimately need as students to keep their body and soul together.
He stated that “the University expects maximum cooperation from parents as we ensure that students are exposed to the best learning experiences the institution can offer.”
Concluding, the VC revealed that institution recently introduced a number of new programs such as Dentistry, Marine Biology, Engineering, Human Nutrition, Food Science, and Pharmacy among others.
