Mr. Ukpukpen was confirmed dead on arrival (DOA) at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) about an hour ago.

Sources say Mr. Ukpukpen had gone for routine exercise in the morning when he slumped and was rushed to the Bakor clinic along the Murtala Muhammed highway.

He was then referred to UCTH where he was announced DOA.

CrossRiverWatch gathered that several bigwigs and elites from Obudu and his immediate Bedia community are still gathered at UCTH.

A second term member of the House, Mr. Ukpukpen was also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
