The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the house of assembly bye-election in Obudu, Abbey Ukpukpen has raced to an early lead.
Results from seven out of ten wards announced so far shows Mrs. Ukpukpen is far ahead of her contenders from three other parties.
Her major contender is Mr. Bendebel Ishamali of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) also fielded candidates.

So far, 10,255 out of a possible 47,281 registered voters were accredited with 9,663 valid votes casted and 294 rejected totalling 9,957 votes cast.
PDP leads with 6,916 followed by APC at 2,639. MPN comes third with 91 while ADC has scored 89 votes.
The results of three wards; 1 (Alege/Ubang), 2(Angiaba/Begiaka) and 3(Begianding) are still being expected at the local government collation center.
