The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Professor Zana Akpagu has suspended all activities of the Varsity’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society geared towards the organisation of the 2018 annual general meeting and proposed elections.

Akpagu’s directives were contained in a release issued by the Registrar of the University, Mr Moses Abang which said it emanated from attested official security report from external security agencies and the internal security organ of the Institution bordering on “imminent odious breach of the peace and security of lives and property on campus,” reports FearlessReports.

“As the Chief Security of the University of Calabar, he cannot fold his hands and watch any group(s) thwart the hard earned peace and tranquillity that has prevailed on campus over time notwithstanding their level of operations and no matter where they draw their strength,” the Institution said.

The release also warned that any flouting of the order would not only lead to proscription of both the society and its activities on campus but the arrest and prosecution of erring staff of the University.
