By Jonathan Ugbal and Efa Sunday

Mr. Emmanuel Odey, a school teacher at Government Primary School, Obudu is currently in Police custody for allegedly defiling a ten year old pupil.

Mr. Odey is said to have carried the pupil (name withheld) from home on Friday morning for a sporting event at school and on his way back, took her to a farm behind the general hospital in Obudu where he forcibly had sex with her.

“He came to the house and said that she (the pupil) was among those picked to participate in a football match with another school. It was about past ten, initially, she didn’t want to go to school because we have some activities in the house, so on reaching there, the teacher took her there and then brought her back. In the process of bringing her back, he now branched and parked the bike close to one cassava farm and then dragged her there,” the pupil’s father, told CrossRiverWatch.

He said a passerby caught Mr. Odey in the act and dragged him to the Indi-Abeb community head where the youths humiliated him before calling the police.

“My daughter was raped this afternoon by her teacher. She’s in primary four in government primary school, Obudu.

“A passerby caught him and then dragged him to the chairman of Indi-Abeb community, where he said he was sorry about the incident which my daughter also confirmed.

“They took her to the hospital and the medical report has proven that she was touched, the father told pCrossRiverWatch adding that the matter has been reported to the Obudu division of the Nigeria Police.

“My daughter is ten years old and we have reported the matter to the police, of which the police say they want to take her to another hospital for confirmation.

“He was beaten by the youths in the community and they used razor blade to scrape his head and was hung with the native handcuff.

“We know him as my daughter’s teacher, though he doesn’t usually come to pick my daughter to school, but that day somebody directed him to our house where he came to pick her up for the competition saying that my daughter is very sporty,” the father added.

CrossRiverWatch also gathered that the suspect has been moved to the police headquarters in Calabar. Our reporter was able to confirm that the suspect arrived Calabar safely Monday night and the Police in Calabar have been contacted by CrossRiverWatch for comments.
