Updates from our Correspondents across the 18 LGA’s of Cross River State indicate that election has begun in several polling units. In Calabar Municipality, voting is said to be ongoing in WAPI and NTA Polling units and in Calabar South, accreditation is still ongoing in some polling units as inec officials educate electorates on how to vote as well as indicating the various boxes for both the presidential and legislative election.

However, some polling units seem to have challenges as INEC officials are yet to arrive at some polling units; some ballot boxes have not been labeled properly and the card readers are not responding to eligible voters. Also reports have it that there seem to be shortage of election materials as two polling units – Ward one, Polling unit  005 is divided in to two and the two divisions are sharing one stamp which is making the process slow in Calabar Municipal.

There are also reports that some electorates have been disenfranchised in Bakassi as they are not aware of their designated polling units – a lot of Bakassi voters have been disenfranchised. Some of them are not aware of where their polling units are. Another vital challenge being observed is non-provision made for the physically challenged.
