Few days after the Obol lLopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana and his Council passed a law against jungle justice an alleged thief was burnt yesterday.
According to eye witness account, last week Wednesday, a motorcyclist who hails from Ketabebe Ijom Ugep (Name not gotten) carried an unknown passenger on his bike at about 6:30pm. The passenger tried to steal his bike but he resisted .
The passenger later bathe the him with fuel he carried in a food flask in his possession, set him ablaze on his bike and escaped.
The burnt motorcyclist was rush to the hospital where he died the next day.
Yesterday (Tuesday) the suspected runner away passenger was caught in Ugep on his way to Adim.
The suspect was apprehended by some Ugep youth’s who discovered a fire scar on his hand which was obvious.
After series of questioning, he said he got the scar from an incident in his shop, when asked to lead them to the shop he resisted and after another round of questioning in the palace of the Obol Lopon, it was discovered he is the alleged killer of the late motorcyclist.
The Abakelike born was later taken to the Ugep Police station. But angry mob snatched him from the Police and burnt him to ashes.
As at the time of filing this report, the Police PPRO who yet to be contacted for comment.
