The Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State on Construction, Mr. Maxwell Etta has escaped what seemed to be an assassination attempt on his life at his home town, Obubra Bansan in Boki L.G.A in Cross River State.
According to him the incident which occurred on Sunday 3rd March, 2019 was allegedly carried out by political thugs of the All Progressive Congress.
Mr. Etta said, “I drove my car to drop my friend at Bansan, came back around 11 o’clock in the night. I picked my friend Barr. Collins Bisong for us to go and sleep, to travel for Calabar on Monday by 5 o’clock for the meeting with His Excellency appointees because I’m a special assistant to the governor on construction.
“Around some ten minutes to 12, we got to my house and compound he took my car, that is what saved my life. He took my car and those guys didn’t know that I had dropped in my compound and they thought maybe he was with me or was the one driving again, so when he got to his compound those guys opened fire on the car thinking I was inside the car. The passenger side where I normally sit they thought I was inside; maybe he entered the house to pick something so he will drive back to my compound that’s how they open fire on the car. The whole of my car is condemned both inside and outside; the car is packed in the police station in Boki.
“It’s a clear assassination attempt by the suspected APC thug’s very well, if the car had slept in my house I would have been a dead man by now. I defected from APC to PDP; it is my choice because I discovered that those characters in APC are bad people, they are those ones from Cross River, the appointees and I decided to make a U-turn to work for Ayade to maintain two tenures because here, I cannot be a party to evil men who want to destroy the zoning pattern of two tenures. So I don’t know why they will make noise they will deliver they will deliver. I got home 24hours to election and I deliver my community to PDP, is that the problem why they want my life?”
Mr. Etta confirm that he and his friend Barr. Collins are both fine and arrived safely in Calabar.
