Five trucks loaded with soldiers and a sixth with operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS arrived Ukambi this morning, villagers have informed CrossRiverWatch.
Some of the villagers who spoke to CrossRiverWatch on phone said that the soldiers, who came last night and arrested two persons, arrived this (Wednesday) morning again and told them they came for peace and went straight to the farms where women and youths have besieged for over a week now, to prevent bulldozers from demolishing their farmlands.
“We don’t know our fate now that they have resorted to soldiers. They are in 5 hilux trucks and the SARS in 1. They have driven towards the farms area. The person that died still hasn’t been buried. But we won’t stop. It must be on record that our lands were taken from us by force, by our own brother.”
There is a reported case of knife violence but CrossRiverWatch is yet to independently confirm the victim or the motive.
