Obol Lopon Of Ugep Elected Paramount Ruler Of Yakurr

A new Paramount Ruler has emerged in Yakurr Local Government Area in the person of His Royal Majesty, Obol Ofem Ubana of Ugep. Obol Ofem Ubana emerged the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr yesterday through an election which was conducted by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of Cross River State.

The election followed the demise of the erstwhile Paramount Ruler, late Obol Ubi
Ujong of Ugep who passed on few years ago.

Four Chiefs contested for the post.They include Obol lopon of Ugep, Obol Lopon of Ekori, Obol Lopon of Nko and Obol Lopon of Agoi.

In the keenly contested election, Obol Ofem Ubana polled 27 votes, while Obol Lopon of Ekori polled 12 votes and Obol Lopon of Nko and Agoi polled one vote each respectively.

The Obol Lopon of Ugep who emerged the winner is presently in Calabar while his people in Ugep are jubilating over his victory as they awaits his return.
